Locals from Bugam village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district has alleged that army soldiers unleashed terror in the village on Monday night. According to them, soldiers damaged property worth lakhs and even picked up 7 youths from the village. “It was a nightmare for us. The unbridled soldiers barged into houses, smashed television sets, computers, refrigerators, windowpanes and other items. They damaged parked vehicles and thrashed people irrespective of age and gender,” said a villager to news agency CNS on condition of anonymity. The villagers said that soldiers attacked everyone and damaged everything that came in their way. “We will forget this night. The soldiers treated us like cattle and dragged us from our houses. They thrashed us, abused us and vandalized our houses,” they said. According to villagers, some youth pelted stones on an army party on Monday evening in the village. After few hours of the incident, army soldiers brandishing sticks and weapons entered into the houses and created fear psychosis. The villagers staged a protest on Tuesday and displayed the damaged property before the reporters. When contacted a police official said that an FIR vide number 194/2017 under section 147, 148, 149, 332, 336 RPC has been registered against the unknown stone-pelters. “Army handed over 7 youths from Bugam village to us. They are charging them of stone-pelting,” the police official said adding investigation has been taken up.
